The Idea
Brainfulness has developed a new device and software that are based upon the idea of Repetitive Triggered Somatosensory Discrimination. This idea is in line with the state of art knowledge in Neurobiology.
The development is an outcome of long cooperation between two scientists: one from medicine and the other from performance education.
After long discussions they both decided to build a prototype and start with a clinical research. The device is under patent approval.
Achievements so far
- Grant from Israeli Chief Scientist received
- Private investment of founders injected
- Approval Helsinki committee obtained
- Approval from Ministry of Health to use the device on human beeing obtained
- A working proto-type of the device has been built
- An open-pilot clinical study has been done using the device (2015), with outstanding positive results, including 30 chronic patients who were resistant to any treatment. So we have proof of concept
- 4 Approved patents in Germany Japan U.S and Israel and registration world wide
- Lately we have got a liecense
from the Israeli health ministry to use our device as a medical device for treating depression patients
The Research
Taking into consideration the profile of the patients the significance of results as well as stability of the affect throughout the treatment exceeded the expectation of the researches. High level of safety with almost non existent side effects amplifies enthusiastic attitude toward the new approach in dealing with one of the most serious medical and social problem of treating depression and anxiety.
As it can be seen in the following graphs there are dual positive effects:
- Immediate effect after each treatment
- Accumulative effect during the period of 8 weeks of the research
Still caution is needed in interpretation of the results given the relatively small population of the study, open-label design and relatively high level of dropping out. Large double- blinded study is needed to generate final proof of efficacy for the new method..
Future Challenges
- Conducting additional clinical trails on Dementia, ADHD
- Planning and building an enhanced model of the device.
- Raising money for more research, production and marketing.
